Time of the Day: 9am to 3pm

Age group: Ages 7-11

This humane education program encourages campers to consider the many different ways we share the world with other living things, with the goal of inspiring respect and appreciation for all life, and encouraging conscientious decision making. Maui Humane Society’s Animal Camp is an educational camp where every day is filled with fun games, crafts, activities, guest speakers and time with the animals! Campers practice positive reinforcement training, socialization, and grooming of shelter pets and explore all aspects of the human-animal bond-  cultivating compassion and encouraging campers to grow into responsible pet owners and advocates for the animals they love!

When do you offer Animal Camp?

Animal Camp is typically held during Hawai’i Department of Education breaks in the Summer, Fall, and Spring.

The next available camp dates are December 26-28th, 2018 (SOLD OUT) and January 1-4th, 2019 (SOLD OUT) (Registration opens November 13th, 2018).

Who can attend Animal Camp?

Animal Camp is open to ages 7 to 11.

How much does it cost to attend Animal Camp?

The registration fee for Animal Camp is typically $195 per 5-day session. This winter (2018-2019), we will be offering a 3-day camp (Dec. 26-28) for $120 and a 4-day camp (January 1-4) for$160.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least two weeks prior to the start of that camp session in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations made in the two weeks before camp are non-refundable - this includes cancellations for waitlist sign-ups made less than two weeks before camp.

How many campers are there per session?
We accept 15 students per session so that each camper is appropriately supervised. Register as soon as possible to ensure your child’s spot!

What is a typical day at Animal Camp like?
Every day our students learn lessons in the classroom, spend time outside playing games and in the shelter socializing with the animals. Animal Camp activities promote creativity, critical-thinking and animal advocacy. Our aim is to provide a well-rounded environment for our students that allows them to forge new friendships and creatively cultivate a strong sense of compassion and responsibility for all living things.

Do you provide lunch?
We ask that our campers bring a sack lunch. We provide mid-day snacks. Bring a water bottle- we have a water cooler available on site.

How much time should I expect my child to spend with the animals at the shelter?
Our campers should expect to spend approximately 1-2 hours per day with our shelter animals. We have found this to be ideal for the well-being of our shelter pets.
