Press Release: Maui Humane Society Announces the Jackson Galaxy Popoki Lifesaving Fund
At a public event at Maui Humane Society held Sunday night, Interim Executive Director Jenny Miller announced that Maui Humane has created a special donation fund to help bring lifesaving care and attention to vulnerable cats and kittens in the shelter’s care. One in five cats or kittens (who are sick, too young or too old) do not leave the shelter alive. (Pu’unene, HI 6/22/23) The Board of Directors of Maui Humane Society (MHS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Lisa M. Labrecque, DVM, has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer for the nonprofit agency. She will start work at the shelter in Pu’unene on July 19, 2023.

Maui Humane Society is urgently requesting the community’s help to provide temporary homes for dogs. Maui Humane Society currently has 120 dogs in their care and has kennel capacity for 40 dogs. Dogs are being paired in kennels to make additional space. 30 SOS Fosters are needed immediately to help decrease the dog population at the shelter.

Shelter animals will be sent from the doghouse to the penthouse! The top fundraisers will earn a VIP night with a shelter dog at several of Hawaii’s top-rated luxury beachfront resorts, including Four Seasons Resort Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani, Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, and the Royal Lahaina Resort.
