Romeo is a playful and loving dog with a challenging past who is still waiting for his forever home at the Maui Humane Society. Found alongside his sister Juliet in September 2024, Romeo’s journey has been one of recovery and transformation. While Juliet has already found a home, Romeo continues to seek the perfect family to call his own.

“A lot of times when I talk to my friends about fostering, they’re like, ‘Oh, but I work all day, I would never be around,’” said Rotondo. “One thing I gotta say is, you working eight hours a day and that dog maybe being home for eight hours a day is so much better than being locked in the kennel 24 hours a day.” In addition to animal lovers, the Rotondos are also landlords who allow pets. They say it is important to do so and encourage other landlords to do the same.

Hoku is a 9-year-old dog at the Maui Humane Society and has been in the shelter’s care for more than 650 days, making her one of the longest residents in need of a forever home. She has waited far too long for a loving home and would make a wonderful addition to any ohana.
