Support continues for the four-legged victims of the Maui wildfire
Maui Humane Society plans to continue to support families and pets in need thanks to the donations of the community. The support goes directly to veterinary care, pet supplies and financial assistance for pet-friendly housing.

First pair of Lahaina’s displaced pets find furever homes
The first pair of community cats that survived the Lahaina wildfires have been adopted. A Maui Humane Society volunteer and supporter is the first adopter for the shelter’s “Operation Fire Cat Placement” program. A custom enclosure was built on her property for cats George and Weezy who are adjusting well to their new home.

The Maui Humane Society continues to rescue dozens of animals from Lahaina every week, and reunites them with their owners. “Not being able to find him, and then not being able to go back to the house and continue looking for him that was heart wrenching. And the day I got the call, I was having a horrible day and it was just the greatest thing ever,” said Eline.
“Yeah she was inconsolable. It was the first day since the fire that I was really concerned about her because she just could not stop crying. And she was out with some friends trying to get her mind off things and I got that call ,it was absolutely amazing,” continued Kurt.

You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but the senior pups at the Maui humane society are receiving lots of treats! A recent grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization announced that out of almost 400 applicants, the Maui Humane Society was among the winning groups, to save or improve the lives of at-risk senior dogs.
