The Maui Humane Society is urgently requesting the community’s help to provide temporary homes for dogs that are currently housed at the shelter. Maui Humane Society currently has 105 dogs in their care–that’s well beyond the kennel capacity of 40 dogs at the facility. Dogs are being paired in kennels to make additional space.
The public is invited to make a positive impact on Maui’s animal community by becoming a “Foster for the Holidays.” The program, which runs through Jan. 2, 2023, provides a temporary warm, cozy, and safe environment for a pet in need during the holiday season.
Maui Humane Society is announcing their $10,000 match campaign starting on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022. Giving Tuesday is an annual celebration, occurring Tuesday after Thanksgiving annually, dedicated to nonprofits around the world. Friends of Maui Humane Society, Mason and Trudy Williams have offered a $10,000 matching donation throughout the month of December, starting on Giving Tuesday. “Your donation will go twice as far, saving twice the lives of Maui’s homeless animals,” said MHS representatives.
Maui Humane Society is hosting a virtual Holiday Auction from Dec 17-19th with a vast array of gifts that include local gift certificates, art, handmade crafts for dog and cat lovers, vacations, and one–of-a-kind experiences of attending the 2022 US Open Tennis Championships or US Open Golf Tournament.
