There’s another animal overpopulation issue on Maui. Maui Humane Society says it’s actually a guinea pig and rabbit problem, and right now, has over 50 of the small animals. It has capacity for only 20.

Maui Humane Society is struggling to find pet parents. They are desperately trying to find homes for not only their dogs, but their cats, bunny rabbits, even guinea pigs. “If you don’t have an outdoor space, cats are great to have. Same with our guinea pigs and our rabbits,” said Maui Humane Society Marketing and Communications Director Katie Shannon.

With more than 500 animals in their care, the Maui Humane Society is seeking individuals and families who would like to adopt a new pet. While the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for Empty The Shelters July 11 -31st; it will accept donations. The waiver excludes county fees and licensing for dogs. Adoptable pets include: dogs, cats, kittens, guinea pigs, and rabbits.

Maui Humane Society is offering a free vaccination clinic to the public for rabbits on July 23rd from 9am-3pm at Maui Humane Society.

Maui Humane Society is holding a FREE rabbit vaccination clinic at the shelter on July 23rd to help prevent any rabbits acquiring the fatal RHDV2 disease.
