The Aloha State will be represented in the Puppy Bowl this year with Maui Humane Society’s persevering pup, Elua! Airing on Animal Planet on February 12 at 9am HST. Maui Humane Society is in urgent need of SOS Fosters for 105+ of their dogs. As their kennels only hold 40 dogs, the community can help by becoming an SOS Foster, which is completely free, all supplies provided and no experience needed.

The Maui Humane Society is sending out a Save our Shelter (SOS) call as its shelters exceed kennel capacity. The humane society said it currently has 105 dogs in their care looking for homes while only having a kennel capacity for 40 dogs. In order to make additional space, dogs have been paired in kennels but you can lend a helping hand through the SOS Foster program.

KHON2: URGENT: Fosters needed as Maui shelter experiences overcapacity

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Maui Humane Society is asking people to stop bringing in strays and surrenders as they experience overcapacity. The shelter is currently caring for 67 dogs (not including the 32 animals in foster homes) when their kennels can only hold 40 dogs. “We are full and overcapacity. We need the community to understand that the shelter should be the last option for the animal,” said Katie Shannon, Director of Marketing at MHS, in a statement.
