The Maui Humane Society is also holding an “Empty the Shelters” adoption special from today through May 15. Adoptions will be free for dogs over 6 months old, cats, and small animals. Adoption fees for kittens will be reduced to $25. The event comes at a time when many shelter animals are desperately in need of temporary fosters or adoptions, according to MHS spokeswoman Katie Shannon, which recently issued another plea for “SOS fosters” to help take in dogs due to shelter overcapacity.
Poke is one of the dogs needing a home on Maui. Empty the Shelters is running from May 1-15th and all animals at Maui Humane Society have reduced or waived adoption fees!
“Right now more than ever, we need to get pets into homes and we host ‘Empty the Shelters’ events quarterly. And we see that during these quarterly events, about 1,000 pets are adopted each day. And since we started this program in 2016, we’ve had nearly 140,000 pets go to loving homes,” Schlacter said. Adoption fees will be reduced for cats and dogs at all of the Humane Society shelters from May 1 to 15.
From May 1 to May 15, BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Spring National “Empty the Shelters” will take place at more than 350 shelters in 45 states with pets available for adoption for just $50 or less, including Maui Humane Society. Maui Humane Society will participate May 1–15, 2023, offering $0 adoption fees for dogs over 6 months, cats, all small animals, and a reduced adoption fee of $25 for all kittens. The Maui Humane Society is participating in a nationwide adoption event that offers zero to low cost adoption fees for a limited time, from May 1-May 15. The BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, announced it will team up with Dogtopia for the foundation’s first “Empty the Shelters” national adoption event of 2023.
The Maui Humane Society has waived adoption fees for the month of March. Additionally, those who adopt a shelter animal this month will receive a $10 gift certificate to Choice Health Bar, which has locations in Paia, Lahaina and Whaler’s Village in Kaanapali.
To start the month of October, you can help the humane society on Maui and Kauai clear their shelters by giving a forever home to pets in their care for a reduced fee. Maui Humane Society is participating in the nationwide Bissell Empty the Shelters event starting on October 1. Maui Humane Society will be waiving ALL ADOPTION FEES for all animals.
