Even the simplest items can bring comfort and care to an animal in need. A towel can comfort a scared animal, a stack of newspapers can give kittens a clean place to play, a soft bed can help a dog feel safe in a kennel, and an enrichment toy can brighten the day of a pet waiting for their forever ʻohana.

By donating everyday supplies, you’re giving animals the comfort, safety, and joy they deserve while they wait for a second chance at life.

What, Where, and How Can I Donate?

If you have physical items you would like to bring to the shelter, you can drop them off in our Donation Sheds located to the right of our shelter’s Main Entrance Monday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 pm. All donated items placed in these sheds will be sorted and distributed by our team. In order to assist us in making this process as seamless as possible, we ask that you please only drop off things on our “Ongoing Shelter Needs” list!

What kinds of items does MHS need most?

We always need towels, blankets, newspapers, pet beds, toys, other enrichment items, and unopened food. Check out our lists above for the most in-demand items.

Can I get a receipt for my donation?

Yes! When you drop off items, our staff can provide a donation receipt for your records. If you’d like a donation receipt, please stop by our Front Office during business hours Monday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Can I donate used items?

Yes! Clean, gently used towels, toys, and beds are always welcome.

Can I bring items if you're closed?

If we’re closed, we ask that you please place your items in or next to the donation sheds located to the right of our main shelter entrance.

How can I donate items if I'm not on island?

Mahalo for your interest in supporting our animals from afar! We encourage those that cannot bring physical items to check out our Ways to Give page! Or, you can also visit our Amazon Wishlist for more items!

Do you accept large items, like furniture or crates?

We can accept crates, kennels, and pet carriers in good condition (no used soft carriers). For larger items like furniture, please call us first to confirm if we have space and can put them to use.
