FAQs

How far ahead should I be planning?
Due to vaccination and blood testing protocols as well as the age of your pet, Maui Humane Society recommends that you start making preparations 4 to 6 months in advance of your travel date as a general rule of thumb when travelling with pets both TO and FROM Maui. For a more exact timeline, contact us directly!
What's with the strict rules?
Hawaii is the only state in the nation that is rabies-free – and we want to keep it that way! These rules and requirements are for the protection of our beautiful islands, and the animals and people that reside here.
How much does it cost?
Maui Humane Society is the only airport quarantine service provider that dedicates 100% of services fees towards caring for Maui’s homeless pets.

  • First-time arrival for family pets: $365 for the first pet and $105 for each additional pet.
  • First-time arrival for service animals: $210 for the first pet and $105 for each additional pet.
  • Repeat arrivals for family pets and service animals: $185 per animal and $105 for each additional animal.
  • After-hours arrivals (including after 5 p.m., weekends, and holidays): $105 additional fee.
  • Flight change fee: $55
  • Flight cancellation fee: $105
