Planned Giving

Give beyond your years and make your core values known by making a planned gift. Members of our legacy society are generous and forward-thinking donors who support our long-term success and be long remembered.

In addition to supporting our work through your generous monetary donations, here are other ways you can contribute to the sustainability of Maui Humane Society in the long term. Many of these options are a win-win for the donor and the organization.

Leave a Legacy

MHS x FreeWill

One of the easiest ways to help involves simply naming Maui Humane Society as a beneficiary in your will and living trust. A bequest may be for a particular dollar amount or percentage of your estate. Estate tax savings may be significant. We’ve partnered with FreeWill: a free online resource that guides you through making or updating your will in 20 minutes, while planning a gift to Maui Humane Society.

Beneficiary Designations

Designating Beneficiaries

Naming Maui Humane Society as a partial or full beneficiary of one of your assets, such as your retirement plan or life insurance policy, is a convenient way to support our mission.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Life income gifts allow you to leave a gift in the care of Maui Humane Society, while receiving income during your lifetime. The two most popular life income gifts are charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities.

IRA

If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of tax benefits while supporting Maui Humane Society.

Stock

Donating appreciated assets avoids federal capital gains taxes and provides a federal income tax deduction for the current market value of the gift.

Complex Gifts

If you are a business owner, own real property or have any other type of complex asset, giving options exist that can both help Maui Humane Society and benefit your family financially.
