The essential supplies are headed to areas like Hana, where last week’s storm destroyed the humane society’s kennels. Some parts of East Maui have been without power for nearly a week, and help for the area has been slowed by debris and downed wires.
Hāna Humane Enforcement Officer Sharon Jahns reports that the storm brought high winds that destroyed both enforcement kennels, ripping off roofs and leaving them unusable.
