Getting involved at Maui Humane Society is simple and various. Not only will you be giving back to animals who need your love and attention, you’re going to feel great about doing it too! Whether you’re looking to make short term or long term commitments, we have everything in between!
FOSTER
Do you desire to have an animal but not sure if you’re ready for full commitment? Fostering is the perfect match for you! By offering your time, love and home to an animal in need, you help prepare them for adoption into a permanent home, as well as creating valuable space in the shelter to accommodate other homeless animals. Fostering may be needed anywhere from a few days to a few months. Fostering is also great because MHS will provide the food, vet care and necessary supplies for you to take care of the animal – there’s no financial barrier, IT’S FREE! ADOPTER
By adopting a pet, you save the lives of two animals—the pet you adopt and a homeless animal that can be saved because of space you make available! We no longer require appointments to adopt an animal – come by the shelter any day of the week from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and see what pets are available to add to your ohana today!
VOLUNTEER
Need some animal therapy but can’t commit to anything more an hour here and there? Volunteering will be PURRFECT for you! You can volunteer by walking dogs, cuddling cats, along with various opportunities that allow you to expand your skill sets – whether it’s being a Kennel Ambassador and helping the public through our front doors to folding laundry. Our volunteer are the backbone of our organization. The hours spent volunteering are equal to 7 time employees! Volunteering Saves Lives!
BE A BEACH BUDDY / TAKE A DOG ON DEMAND
Want to hang out with a dog for the day? Beach Buddies and Dog on Demand is ultimuttly the best! Whether you’re visiting Maui on vacation or you’re Kama’aina, we want you to be able to have a fun day in the sun with a shelter dog!
