Aloha kakou! My name is Tootsie and I am Maui Humane Society’s Pet of the Week! I’ve been through quite a journey. I was found lost in Hana, emaciated and with three bullets in my head. Thanks to our amazing vet team, I’m healed up and ready to find a loving home that I truly deserve.
With hundreds of animals in their care, staff at the Maui Humane Society “desperately need” help with fosters to free up space at the shelter. Because of the limited space at the facility, some pets are staying in shelter offices. For those who cannot adopt, the shelter’s foster program is free, and they provide food, supplies, medication and veterinary care if needed.

This Saturday, Maui Humane Society will host a Wags ‘n Wheels pet adoption event in partnership with Servco Subaru Maui from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Servco Subaru Maui dealership. The event aims to help pets find ‘furever homes’ in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the Lahaina wildfires, which displaced hundreds of pets in the community.
The 2025 “Rescue Me” Calendar will showcase heartwarming moments between Maui’s pets and firefighters or lifeguards. All photoshoots were held in West Maui and shot by award-winning photographer, Dana Edmunds, who volunteered his time and talent.
Maui’s animal and rescuer supporters can place their votes for their favorite pet-hero photo at just $1 per vote, and the top 12 photos will be featured in the printed calendar. Calendars are available for pre-order now. All proceeds from this innovative, community-focused calendar will benefit Maui Humane Society (MHS).

Maui’s firefighters and lifeguards have teamed up with the Maui Humane Society in MHS’s annual calendar contest fundraiser to support the island’s animals.
