Maui Humane Society has received a devastating update from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office regarding the ongoing investigation into Miranda’s Rescue in Fortuna, California.
Investigators informed us that two of the animals they recovered during the search of the property had microchips registered to Maui Humane Society. These dogs were Kloe and Oliwa.
This news is heart wrenching. Kloe and Oliwa were deeply loved by our staff, volunteers, and everyone who had cared for them during their time with us. Like every animal that comes into our care, they deserved safety, compassion, and the opportunity to live happy lives.
We know this is incredibly difficult to hear. We share your grief and your outrage.
Maui Humane Society continues to cooperate fully with federal and local Humboldt County authorities as the investigation progresses. We remain committed to providing any information or assistance requested by investigators.
Today, we remember Kloe and Oliwa. They mattered, they were loved, and they will not be forgotten.
