Maui Humane Society is participating in the nationwide “Empty the Shelters” adoption event from May 1-15. Maui Humane Society is offering $0 adoption fees for dogs over 6 months, cats, all small animals, and a reduced adoption fee of $25 for all kittens. PetHub, Inc. announced it has partnered with Maui Humane Society to launch a new dog license and ID tag program to keep pets safe and increase the number of lost animals reunited with their owners.
Help is desperately needed at Maui’s only animal shelter. Officials at the Maui Humane Society say it is overcapacity — more than ever before. They even have signs up at the entrance saying, “WE ARE FULL.” “We are asking the community to come and foster animals as soon as they can. What we need is animals to get out of the kennels. We don’t have any open kennels right now, which means any animal coming in, we don’t have space for,” said Katie Shannon, Maui Humane Society director of marketing.

Maui Humane Society reportedly receives about five lost pet claims every day. That’s upwards of 1,800 lost dogs at Maui’s shelter a year. To curb those numbers, the nonprofit has partnered with PetHub, a modern pet identification system out of Washington state, to distribute specialized pet tags that owners can add to their animal’s collar.
Maui Humane Society and Down the Hatch is hosting an event for pet-lovers to get play with their lovable animals and possibly take home a forever friend. The mobile adoption and donation event will be at the Maui Community at Down the Hatch on Saturday, April 15, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m
There is still time to fundraise for Maui Humane Society’s Wags to Riches event! The event is back for its third year and encourages the community to raise funds for Maui’s homeless animals. The people who fundraise the most will get to stay at a luxury resort on Maui and will be accompanied by a shelter dog from the Maui Humane Society on April 29th. The top fundraisers will be announced on April 28 at noon.
