The Maui Humane Society is urgently requesting the community’s help to provide temporary homes for dogs as on Tuesday it had 120 dogs in their care and the kennel has a capacity of only 40, a news release said.

Dogs are being paired in kennels to make additional spaces available.

There is an immediate need for “SOS Foster” to temporarily foster an animal. No prior experience is necessary and people will receive necessary supplies at no charge.

There is no pressure to adopt through “SOS Foster.” The length of time an animal stays at a home is dependent on the person’s schedule.

To address the over population issue, Maui Humane Society will be open until 7 p.m Friday. All adoption fees are waived for dogs who are more than 6 months old.

The dogs can be found at https://www.mauihumanesociety.org/pet-adoption/pets-for-adoption. A red banner across the pet’s image reflects it is already in a foster home.
