Hāna Humane Enforcement Officer Sharon Jahns reports that the storm brought high winds that destroyed both enforcement kennels, ripping off roofs and leaving them unusable.

An alleged thief drove through the shelter’s gates, shattered the doors and windows, and pulled out the wires of the newly-upgraded surveillance system. The shelter said the thief left with cash from the front office before police arrived. Fortunately, no animals were hurt.
