Buddy came into our care just a few days before we closed our doors to the public with a seizure condition that requires medication to manage and some behavioral issues that didn’t make him a good candidate for placement into a foster home. Fortunately, he had Maui Humane Society’s amazing Animal Care staff in his corner!

11-year-old Reginald was one of the first dogs placed into foster care when the call went out. Reginald’s foster family brought him to the shelter to meet a couple who were interested in adopting him.
Longtime MHS volunteer Kathryn was one of the first people to answer the call to move shelter animals into emergency foster homes.
“The minute the word got out, the community started pouring in with offers of help” she said. “Our biggest push was to have these animals get out into foster care, and they did not disappoint. We had an overwhelming response to the community need to step up and help us.”
Keanu Reeves (now Reeves), spent two months waiting for a home on Maui before he was transferred to a rescue partner in Oregon and adopted into a loving home.
