There is nothing better than sharing the holiday spirit with a furry companion. By helping us foster dogs & cats this holiday season, you’ll be their holiday hero!
Being a Holiday Hero is Easy:
- Sign up for an appointment between December 21 – 30 to meet meet your holiday houseguest at the shelter.
- Based on your results from the survey (completed when you sign up for an appointment), our staff will introduce you to the available animals that will be a purr-fect match. We’ll provide you with all the information and supplies (crates, leashes, etc.) and send you on your merry way with your Holiday Friend!
- Help find your foster pet a permanent home by sharing and promoting them!
- Adopt the animal before January 4th or bring your foster pet back on January 4th. You’re now a Holiday Hero!
How does this make me a Holiday Hero?
By opening your heart and home to a shelter animal for the holidays, you will give this animal the best holiday present – a comfortable place to spend the holiday season. Not to mention, starting 2021 with a fresh start!
Sometimes all an animal needs is one compassionate, dedicated person in their corner to spread the word and go the extra mile to find them the perfect family. That could be YOU!
Which animals are available to foster for the holidays?
Adult animals available for holiday foster are adults, aged 6 months to 16 years old!
Can I choose an animal online and come pick them up?
The shelter population changes so rapidly between adoptions, reclaims, fosters, medical issues and transfer that we cannot guarantee a particular animal in advance. You must make an appointment to view the animals in person at the shelter.
How do I find a new home for my holiday friend?
As a Holiday Hero, the best thing you can do is reach out to your own family, friends and neighbors who may be a good fit. You can also share your holiday friend on social media or bring them to dog-friendly public spaces to meet new people (from a distance, of course)!
What if I’m unable to find a home for my holiday friend by January 4th?
If you’re unable to find a home for your holiday friend, no worries – at least they got to spend Christmas and New Year’s in your home! You have the option of returning your friend to the shelter on January 4th, or you can choose to continue fostering until they are adopted. It’s totally up to you!
