HONOLULU (KHON2) — Animals are still being rescued from the Maui burn zone every day.
Thursday, Feb. 8, marks six months since the wildfire devastation, and 800 animals rescued by the Maui Humane Society.
As of Feb. 1, it’s believed about 50 cats are still in the burn zone, but 200 pets have been reunited with their families and nearly 130 animals have been adopted.
Maui Humane Society plans to continue to support families and pets in need thanks to the donations of the community.
The support goes directly to veterinary care, pet supplies and financial assistance for pet-friendly housing.
