Mangy Pup Darwin Evolves into a Happy, Healthy Boy

January 20, 2020

We received a call on our emergency line from a woman who had found this emaciated, bloody, flea-infested dog eating her cat’s food. When Humane Enforcement Officer Redd first rescued him, it was clear that Darwin had been neglected for some time. We knew that with the right treatment and a WHOLE lot of love, we would be able to give him the second chance he deserved.

100% of your contribution to Maui Humane Society’s Hope Fund covered Darwin’s medical expenses and gave him the chance to make a dramatic recovery.

This guy had such a profound impact on the Humane Enforcement Officer who rescued him that she ultimately made the decision to adopt him into her ohana!  “He’s doing great!” Officer Redd writes. “He loves his brother Bear and especially enjoys the beach and swimming!”

Tommy Boy was attacked by a machete in a parking lot in Paia. His bone-deep lacerations were across his forehead, across his back, and the tip of his tail. If Tommy Boy didn’t receive the immediate help from first-responders, our Humane Enforcement Officers and our on-call emergency Veterinarians, Tommy Boy would have knocked on death’s door. Thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers to help him heal over the past 2 months, Tommy Boy has made a full recovery. Donate to help offset the cost of Tommy Boy’s medical expenses and care.

Oscar the Cat came to us when his caretaker had to move and there was no one left to care for him. He had some growths on his nose that turned out to be cancerous – common with cats who spend a lot of time in the sun.
