Maui Humane Society has been awarded new funding to implement community-focused programs and services made possible by the generosity of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, a private charitable foundation based in Incline Village, Nevada. The grant will be distributed over a three year term with the intent to increase life saving efforts and expand resources beyond the shelter to reach at-risk pets throughout the island. Funding highlights include the purchase of a specialized truck and trailer to provide veterinary community outreach, hiring an additional veterinarian and support team, an expanded Foster department, an educational Humane Enforcement Resource Officer, expanded Wings of Aloha program to support inter-island transfers and further development of pet owner resources to help keep animals in their homes.
Maui Humane Society is partnering with Greater Good Charities’ Good Fix program to provide free spay/neuter clinics in Hāna from June 9 through June 12. Hāna community members can bring in their dogs, cats, or any free roaming cat to Hāna High & Elementary School Gymnasium for free same day surgery.
Maui Humane Society is set to receive a $200,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love during a special celebration at Petco at 50 Ho’okele Street in Kahului on July 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. in support of their lifesaving work for animals on Maui. “Petco Love has always been a strong supporter of our organization and animals.
