Maui Time Weekly: MHS Hands Out Donated Dog Food

A team of Maui Humane Society volunteers and staff distributed over 2,600 lbs of dog food and supplies to Maui community members in need this past weekend. Volunteers loaded food into vehicles at a ‘drive-thru’ set up in the shelter parking lot and offered used collars and leashes if needed.

Maui Humane Society is urgently requesting the community’s help to provide temporary homes for dogs. Maui Humane Society currently has 105 dogs in their care and has kennel capacity for 40 dogs. Dogs are being paired in kennels to make additional space. In these moments of high population, Maui Humane Society signals “SOS Foster” which asks anyone in the community to foster an animal.

Maui Humane Society is encouraging the community to donate $5 or more and will be matching up to $1,000 on January 17 in her honor. Maui Humane Society is shining light on their own Golden Girls: Lilo, starring as Rose Nylund, Nala as Blanche Devereaux, Athena as Sophia Petrillo, and our longest stay animal who has been with us for over 365 days, Linda, starring as Dorothy Zbornak. All four animals are currently in foster but are in need of furever homes. If you are interested in meeting these animals, please call Maui Humane Society to make an appointment.
